Introduction
In times of crisis, our innate human instinct is to come together and extend a helping hand to those in need. It was no different when the devastating explosion at the Beirut port on August 4, 2020, shook the foundations of the city and its people. Witnessing the widespread destruction and the suffering of the affected families, we knew we had to act. Thus, our Medical Outreach program came to light.
The aftermath of the Beirut explosion
The explosion, which left 200 people dead, 5,000 injured, and a staggering 300,000 individuals homeless, created a humanitarian catastrophe of unprecedented proportions. It was in the midst of this chaos and despair that Sarine, a compassionate soul, decided to take action. She embarked on a mission to visit the homes in close proximity to the blast site.
A helping hand extended
Sarine’s visits were an eye-opener. Families were struggling not only with the loss of their homes but also extensive structural damage that had rendered their living conditions perilous. In response to this dire need, Sarine took the initiative to hire experts in carpentry and aluminum door installation to provide the necessary repairs. Her actions provided a glimmer of hope in a time of darkness.
The growing healthcare crisis
As if the explosion’s devastation wasn’t enough, Lebanon was facing a financial crisis that further compounded the suffering of its people. Simultaneously, the COVID-19 pandemic was rapidly spreading, making access to essential medical care increasingly challenging for the Lebanese population. It was amid this backdrop of adversity that the Medical Outreach initiative was launched.
Our Medical Outreach initiative
Our Medical Outreach program is designed to bring critical medical assistance directly to those in need. Through these outreach efforts, we aim to bridge the healthcare gap that has left many vulnerable. Here’s what our program offers:
- Access to Chronic Medications and Supplements: Patients are provided with their vital chronic medications and supplements, ensuring they can manage their health conditions effectively
- Vital Sign Assessments: Our medical professionals conduct vital sign assessments to monitor the well-being of our patients, providing them with valuable health insights.
- Assistance Beyond Healthcare: We understand that healthcare is more than just medicine. Our outreach includes provisions of essential food items to alleviate immediate concerns, ensuring that patients and their families have access to nourishing meals.
- A Spiritual Touch: In addition to physical health, our Medical Outreach program acknowledges the importance of spiritual well-being. A dedicated prayer team is always present, offering prayers for the patients’ physical healing and spiritual strength.
At a time when many Lebanese are struggling to access even the most basic healthcare, our Medical Outreach program is a beacon of hope. We are committed to reaching those who need it most, providing not only medical assistance but also a caring touch that reminds them they are not alone in their journey towards recovery.
