The name “Pearl” is derived from the story of baby Perla (Pearl in Latin), who experienced a severe health condition called necrotizing pneumonia and was on the brink of losing her life. Her miraculous recovery serves as a real-life testament to this notion, where the name “Pearl” represents the preciousness of life and the power of resilience. This name also draws inspiration from the process that a pearl undergoes in the oyster. This transformative process reflects the journey that this ministry went through. The many years of hard work came to reflect hope, healing, and the potential for something truly precious to emerge in the community.
The reference to “Light” in the name “Pearl and Light” is drawn from the teachings of Jesus Christ who said, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). This verse implies that individuals should let their good deeds and actions shine forth, enlightening the world and positively impacting those around them. It’s a call to live in such a way that reflects the goodness of God, His truth and love for others, bringing light and guidance to the world.
